If you are interested in Rock Climbing, Mountaineering or Fell Walking, you will find a friendly welcome from like-minded people in the Chester Mountaineering Club.

Established in 1953, the Club has over 200 members throughout the country with an active core based in the Chester area. We run a varied programme of activities including regular outdoor meets both in the UK and abroad, midweek evening climbing at local crags and climbing walls (depending on the time of year!)  and social events. Fringe pastimes such as ski touring and mountain biking also creep into the schedule occasionally. The Club has a wide range of members in terms of mountain interests, ages, and climbing standards, all of whom seem to get on with each other well.

New members are always welcome. For technical activities such as rock climbing or winter mountaineering, the club does not provide instruction for beginners, but once able to operate safely at a basic level, newcomers to the sport will find a wealth of experience within the Club to learn from.

We have our own hut in Llanberis, beautifully situated on the road towards “Cloggy”, plus access to three more in the Lake District owned by kindred clubs.

If you would like to join us for a meet, or just want to learn a bit more about the Club, then click here or contact Membership Secretary Jim Jones at JimJ@chestermc.org
